Remember seeing that slogan from World War II posters?

It’s good advice for today too.

A prime example is the story of Representative Eric Massa, who resigned from the U.S. Congress this past week. Certainly, there are allegations of inappropriate behavior, but in trying to explain his situation, Massa did more damage with his words than his behavior alone could have ever done.

In watching the Massa story unfold, I’m reminded of the challenges we face in today’s media world. Not only should we be careful what we say on air, but also in our online presence as well.

Be sure to set solid guidelines for your staff – both on and off air. Make sure there’s nothing that can damage you, your advertisers…or more importantly, your Christian testimony.
